Did anyone else happen to catch CMT's Crossroads with Sugarland and Bon Jovi the other night? It was pretty cool! Apparently, Jennifer sings on Bon Jovi's new album as well.

Brandon Bush is the keyboard player for the band Train and he is also the brother of Kristian Bush of Sugarland. Check out his website at www.brandonbush.com
He writes great stuff in his journal on the site...He's funny. Check out the entry below about playing with Sugarland at the CMA Awards.

A Story in Black and White - By Brandon Bush
I joined Sugarland on the road for a week of shows, including a performance on the CMA awards at Madison Square Garden. I enjoyed getting to spend some time with my brother and the rest of the band. I also learned a thing or two about the world of country music. For instance, a typical musician on a country tour works very hard, takes care of his or her own gear, doesn’t complain about catering and generally acts like a responsible human being, appreciative to have a great job. All of which makes me a big looser for complaining to Train’s tour manager when my after show food isn’t served to me at the perfect temperature or the masseuse is talking too much. Yeah, we have it rough.
So after a few shows supporting Brad Paisley in Florida, we headed to New York City for the CMA awards. Having never played at Madison Square Garden, it was a thrill to sit on that stage, if only for one song. Sugarland’s stylist dressed the backing band in all black, explaining that he was “telling a story in black and white.” We were apparently the black part of that story. And the moral of that story was hide the band. Having played with numerous bands as a sideman, I know the drill. The job is to sound good and go unnoticed. I don’t mind that at all, in fact I kind of prefer it. The stylist, however, insisted that I go out and buy some new black pants because the jeans I brought with me were not black enough. (How much more black can they be. The answer is none. None more black.) So eager to please, I headed off into the streets of Manhattan to find myself some styling black pants. $150 dollars later, I was all ready to tell my part of the “story in black in white.” Now remember that I’m sitting down behind a Hammond organ while performing, and by design I’m not supposed to be on camera except in passing behind the three principals in the band. I could have played with no pants on and the audience would not have known the difference. But I’m explaining this to show my total dedication to my job and to the story, the story in black and white. And I’ve decided in honor of Sugarland’s stylist I have some more stories to tell. Yesterday I was telling a story in blue denim as I ran errands around Atlanta. And last night, for my friend’s fondue themed birthday party, I told a story in brown polyester. And it was a damn good story, if I do say so myself. -Brandon Bush

Sugarland has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best New Artist category! :excited:
The others nominated in that category are Ciara, Fall Out Boy, Keane and John Legend.

ST: Do you know Keane? I heart them deeply. The lead singer looks like he's 12. I bet they don't win, but they are so, so good. They played Dallas the day we went up to PA to see G, so we didn't get to see 'em. You can't get tickets for their shows here, they sell out in 5 mins flat. I haven't told her this, but I have never forgiven her for that. Biotch. And she made me fetch my own beer.

CC: I don't know Keane, but I just listened to a song on their website and they do sound yummy. Which CD would you recommend first? I guess I might not have a choice as some of them may not be available in the U.S.
When I went to G.'s house, she put me to work in the kitchen cooking vegan for the Diva. ha! I also fetched my own beer, but I'd gladly do it all again to get those fun times back.

ST: They've only released one - Hopes and Fears. Definitely worth it. Check out Snow Patrol too.
